KG: Enough with the Shtick!

garnett.jpgIs it just me, or has KG become an arrogant SOB since he donned the shamrock? Sure, he’s a great talent. But what’s up with all the sneering and roaring? You’d have thought a three-year $60 million contract extension would keep someone from scowling so much. (Or maybe it’s the fact that the leprechauns can’t seem to win a playoff road game.) And as for that Gatorade commercial, you know, the one that’s run every other timeout — uncle! UNCLE! C’mon Kev, enough with the chest thumping. We know you got heart. But until you get a ring, lay off the histrionics.

Anybody else besides me worried about Kobe’s back?

    I agree!
We all know KG brings the intensity. And that’s great. But does he have to yell after every play. It’s becoming almost as annoying as Joakim Noah a couple years ago.
Here’s the over-under for the next Celtics game. 50, as in, the number of times KG will say MF-er during the game.

Becky, I’m more worried about his teammates showing up than him. And Chris, I’ll take the “over” on the over / under.

Well, I saw the Celtics’ player introductions yesterday before their game seven with the Cavaliers, and apparently KG’s yells are part of the hype, so I suspect it will continue as long as Boston remains in the playoffs.

And I agree with Kobe needing his teammates to show up. I wasn’t sure, though, they could win on their best days without Kobe being better. He was, and they did, at least some of them. And for a time they looked … well, like locks for the championship trophy.

I just wish Bynam was part of this.

KG yelled in ‘sota all the time. I lived in Minneapolis for years, and loved to watch him bring it.

He’s talking to himself, by the way, totally oblivious to anything around him, not trash-talking. He just gets himself so pumped up. I can’t tell you the number of people (both players in interviews and fans I knew) who will admit to taking a long time to understanding why he does it, or mistaking it for bravado. It is more akin to a motivational mental illness!

He hasn’t changed. He’s just getting more exposure in Boston.
