The Kindle may have been my single favorite thing of the year. Great to take to work, vacations, doctor appts., etc.

Kindle – *shudder* But my reasons against Kindle are ranty and stubborn and have nothing to do with logic, so I’ll stop now. 😉

    Favorite things:

    1. My son’s dramatic improvement against his autism
    2. 9 years and counting with the wife
    3. Met Joe Hill and shook his hand and mumbled but didn’t act too dorky
    4. Talked to Peter Straub on a radio show and likewise didn’t act like a dork
    5. Discovering Repairman Jack & F. Paul Wilson
    6. This novella thingie I wrote
    7. Some Stoker Recs for the novella thingie I wrote (which mean nothing yet, I know…)
    8. Phone/pitch meeting with acquisition editor at HarperCollins (the actual submission will occur in 2011, so…)

    And that’s about all…

Great list, Kevin. Re: the Kindle. I was resistant for a while, probably because I love “physical” books so much. But buying the Kindle hasn’t made me buy less “real” books; it has caused me to read more. Now I base my book buying decision on, “Do I want a hard copy or will digital suffice?” For instance, I’ve been wanting to read the new Bonhoeffer biography. Well, the e-book was $9. The hardcover, $18. I bought the hardcover. I know there’s some good arguments against digital readers. But this far, I’m really enjoying mine. And it has only helped me read more.

Interesting. I suppose at some point I’ll break. I think I’m waiting until maybe the Ipad gets cheaper, because I like the idea that you can use that as computer, too. When I read submissions for the Halloween issue of Shroud, I would’ve loved to have had an Ipad to read submissions on.

Oooh, I wanna see True Grit. Badly.

Did you see Inception, Mike? I really enjoyed that one as well.

Yeah, I saw Inception, Mark, and really liked it. On my scoreboard, I’d rank True Grit and The Social Network higher. Jeff Bridges does such a great job with the role of Rooster Cockburn and the girl who plays Maddie is fantastic. A very memorable film.
